Lancashire Probation Trust is one of 35 probation trusts in England and Wales, and a statutory criminal justice service. We work together with the the other criminal justice agencies: Police, the Prison Service, the Courts and the Crown Prosecution Service.
In Lancashire our work is serving local people - building safer communities, cutting crime, ensuring public protection and fewer victims. We work in partnerships with many agencies in the county.
We have a clear role to play in managing risk, changing lives and improving communities which will make Lancashire a safer place for everyone.
Probation's role is to:
- Protect the public
- Cut Crime
- Enforce punishment of offenders
- Rehabilitate offenders to law-abiding lives
- Uphold the interests of victims of crime

We work to national objectives with focus on local delivery of services relevant to the needs and concerns of all sections of our diverse county.
In Lancashire last year we supervised around 3000 offenders doing Unpaid Work under a Community Order.
They worked a total over
215,000 hours helping
communities during the year.
