Equality and Diversity

Lancashire Probation Trust aims to treat all people fairly and respect and uphold human rights and equality.

We recognize that discrimination can occur in many forms and we are committed to its elimination, adopting policies of positive action where that is permitted.

Our single equality scheme represents our commitment to equality and covers the seven strands of diversity:

  • race
  • gender
  • gender identity
  • disability
  • age
  • sexual orientation
  • religion/belief

And sets out how we build equality into policy development, employment practices, and the provision of services to offenders and victims and dealing with the local communities we serve.

Promoting Equality and Diversity

We work closely with local community groups to increase awareness and to encourage recruitment from groups within the community who are under-represented within our workforce. We also take part in careers fairs and youth conferences and visit schools, colleges and universities.
